Strength In Numbers Is About Us All Say The Music

The Music have stressed that their new album Strength In Numbers is not just inspired by singer Rob Harvey's battles with addiction.

The album hits the shelves next week, some three years after the band's sophomore effort, and a post from Harvey on the band's official site revealed that his abuse of marijuana, and later of alcohol, played a significant part in the album's delay.

But with the band having been dropped by Virgin Records after second album Welcome To The North, Harvey explained that the new release's theme of togetherness is not just inspired by his own problems.

"It's not just the problems I've had, it's the problems we've all had," he told inthenews.co.uk.

"We need to reiterate that this record isn't about me, it's about the four of us and what we've been through. And the lyrics are about something that we've all been through."

He explained the lyrical content of the album is "definitely a shared view" because of the foursome experiencing similar doubts in the period since their last album.

"We've all had anxieties and when the thing that allows you to exist [a record deal] is taken away from you, it's like falling," he said.

"Everything that you stood for is taken away from you. That can send you into panic and we're just normal people, anybody would feel that way."

Strength In Numbers is released on Monday June 16th.
